FIBERPIGTAILED LASER

Most of the PEGASUS laser systems can be provided either as freespace or as multimde (MM) or as singlemode (SM) fibercoupled version. With fiber the customer can have laserlight with excellent beam quality,directly where it is needed and difficult adjustment is not necessary in OEM applications. Based on stable “state of the art” coupling technology, PEGASUS developed a large range of standard Singlemode- (SM) and Multimode (MM) fiberpigtailed modules with wavelengths between 405 and 810 nm.

By illumination with laser light,  the activity of some neuron and  brain cells can be turned on or  switched off selectively.  Depending on the type of neuron,  this has to be done with different  wavelengths, typically out of 405 -  640 nm with high spatial precision.  The PEGASUS fibercoupled  multicolor systems, as the MICRO-  RGB and the SIXTUS series provide  the necessary high optical power  at different wavelengths to  manipulate different cell types  and the fiber pigtail allows the  user to directly “connect” the  light to the spatial cell area, which  is item of interest.  The measurement of particle sizes  in the sub-µm range is usually  realized with laser diffraction  method. The PEGASUS singlemode  fiber pigtailed diode laser with  optical power up to 100 mW and  circular Gaussian beam profile are  used for precise focussing on  different areas inside the  measurement cell. Typically green  wavelength are used for nm-range  particles and red / IR often used  for particles with several µm.
